BIO

In every sporting code each year there is one rider who emerges as a force to be reckoned with and in 2008 that rider appears to be South Australian Kirk Gibbs.

After finishing inside the top three in the 2007 Under 19s Championship, Gibbs this year made the step up to the Pro Lites category with Team Seven Fly Yamaha.

In his first full season in the professional ranks the South Australian has recorded a number of podium placings during the motocross season including an overall victory at Raymond Terrace.

Like other leading riders, Gibbs won a number of state-based [South Australian] championships before contesting the Australian Junior MX Championships in 2004.  With twice the workload of most of the riders, the Team Seven Fly Yamaha rider won the 125cc and 250cc classes.

On his Supercross Championship debut in 2007, Gibbs finished 14th overall despite not scoring points at the final round of the championship.  Twelve months later with more experience the 19-year-old is striving for a top five finish.
